Priorities

Before the pandemic, our economy was the strongest it’s been in decades. Under President Trump, unemployment was at a record low, the stock market was booming, and we experienced record growth and opportunity. Unfortunately, as we slowly rebound from COVID-19, President Biden and the far left are pursuing a progressive tax and spend agenda that’s fundamentally changing the way our country operates. As a result of their reckless spending, we now have record high inflation, a stagnant economy, and higher cost of living. As your Congresswoman, I will stop the out-of-control spending, help businesses find employees so they can get back on their feet, and oppose Biden’s big government policies and tax increases.

As the daughter of a retired Prince William County Police Officer, this issue is deeply personal to me. The brave men and women who risk their lives daily to keep our community safe deserve to have our full support. Democrats on the extreme left continue to demonize law enforcement and push for dangerous policies to defund the police. Now we’ve seen an increase in crime across America and this has devastating impacts in every neighborhood across the country on recruiting and retaining law enforcement officers. As a Stafford County Supervisor, I have fought for and secured massive pay raises, increased our high-tech equipment and resources used in the field to catch criminals like child abductors. While other localities were defunding, I was adding additional deputies to keep our community safe.

In Congress, I will always stand with our law enforcement and ensure they have the resources and equipment they need to keep us safe. I will DEFEND qualified immunity for each and every officer across the country. We must DEFEND - not defund – our men and women in blue.

Politics has become so divisive recently that we have forgotten how to respectfully disagree with one another. The woke cancel culture, mainstream media, and the far left threaten to silence anyone who disagrees with their viewpoints. Or, even worse, they use the government to force you to conform. Unfortunately, our students are currently caught in this battle as local school boards are ignoring the facts and continue to prioritize the teacher unions over our students. As your representative in Congress, I won’t be silenced. I will stand up to Biden and his liberal allies and stop unconstitutional government mandates that strip away your personal freedoms and I will stand with parents to make decisions for their children, not government bureaucracies.

Our children deserve the best education in the world. Unfortunately, Democrats would rather play politics and teach divisive curriculum like Critical Race Theory, and when parents voice their concerns, they are silenced by the woke cancel culture. Let me be clear, politics does not belong in the classroom. While serving as a Stafford County Supervisor, I successfully stopped CRT from being taught in our schools. I was a vocal advocate for keeping School Resource Officers in place, and I supported hard working teachers by voting for substantial pay raises. In Congress, I will always stand with parents, students, and teachers because our children’s future is too important to play politics with.

Thanks to President Biden’s failed policies, we are seeing a surge of illegal activity at the border and drugs are pouring into our communities. In effect, every town is now a border town. The humanitarian crisis at the border must be stopped and it begins with simple solutions like finish building the wall, increase funding and boots on the ground for border agents, and restore the “Remain in Mexico” policy to stem the influx of migrants coming into America. In Congress, I will support these policies and others to secure the border and keep America safe.

Our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is non-negotiable. Our Founding Fathers were clear how they felt about the Second Amendment, that’s why they enshrined it in the Constitution – not only to protect our right to hunt or target shoot, but for people to defend themselves and their families. When Virginia Democrats came after our Second Amendment rights, I led the effort to make Stafford County a sanctuary county for law abiding gun owners. In Congress, I will continue to protect the Second Amendment from the radical left and proudly defend our Constitutional rights.

President Biden and Abigail Spanberger’s disastrous Green New Deal rhetoric, anti-energy regulations, and woeful foreign policy agenda have failed our country and been exploited by our top adversaries on the energy front – as seen currently in Russia. Instead of making it easier to explore for oil and gas in America, they canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline on day one and added regulations that make it harder and more expensive to explore for oil and gas. These failed energy policies cause us to purchase 595,000 barrels of Russian oil per day.

In Congress, supporting America’s energy independence will be one of my top priorities. I will champion common sense policies to help us achieve energy independence and bring down the skyrocketing price of gas.

Free, fair, and secure elections are the cornerstones of our democracy and we must be able trust the process and outcome. Unfortunately, many voters have lost faith in our election system and fear the rules are changed to benefit one side over the other. As your Congresswoman, I will support commonsense solutions to secure our elections like requiring voter ID, frequently cleaning the voter rolls, and requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote.

The Biden-Spanberger Administration’s foreign policy agenda has been an unmitigated disaster and an embarrassment to our country and allies. It was clear that we had no plan when we withdrew from Afghanistan and as a result, thousands of Americans were put in danger. My husband is a Marine and served our country in Iraq. I understand the sacrifices our military make to protect our country, and as your Congresswoman, I will ensure our troops are always protected, our military is adequately funded, and that we always stand with American allies. It is only through a strong National defense that we can truly keep America safe.

The men and women who bravely protect our nation from threats both at home and abroad deserve our utmost respect and support. As the wife of a Marine combat veteran, I’m all too familiar with the VA’s much needed improvements. We must do more to better serve those who have served our country. In Congress, I will always support our nation’s veterans. I will work to cut red tape and allow our veterans better access to the health care and other services they need. We have a responsibility to protect those who protected us, and I will never stop making veterans’ issues a major priority.
